The Client

A family firm that can weld almost anything

Watford Welding is a family business run by Richard, with more than ten years of welding and fabrication behind it. The work ranges from coded ARC and structural welding to precise TIG work in stainless steel and aluminium, cast iron repairs, bespoke fabrication and on site MAG drilling.

Customers range from homeowners with a broken gate to businesses that need steelwork made and fitted, across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and London. Their customer reviews keep coming back to the same things: quick to respond, available at short notice and fairly priced.

The challenge

Be the welder people find first

Most welding work starts with a search. A gate snaps, a cast iron part cracks, a steel frame needs making, and someone types "welder near me" into Google. Whoever shows up, looks credible and is easy to contact usually gets the call.

A new website starts with no search history at all. Good work and great reviews count for nothing if nobody can find you.

The job was to get Watford Welding found for the services it offers and the towns it covers, then make sure that people who landed on the site picked up the phone or sent an enquiry.

What we did

Four things, done properly

1

Built a website designed to win enquiries

A Wix Studio site with a quote form on the homepage, a promise that Richard calls back, a phone number on every page and links to the firm's Checkatrade and TrustATrader reviews, so visitors can check the reputation before they get in touch.

2

Spelled out every service clearly

All nine services are set out in plain English, from coded ARC and structural welding to cast iron repairs, so customers and Google both know exactly what the firm does.

3

Built a page for every area covered

Ten location pages, so the site can appear when people search for a welder in the towns Watford Welding actually works in.

4

Measured every enquiry

We connected Google Search Console in August 2025 and track every contact form back to where the visitor came from. That shows us which searches and pages bring in work, so we keep building on what's working.

The results

Search went from a trickle to the main source of work

From April to July 2025, search brought in one enquiry. From March 2026 onwards it has brought in between three and seven every month, and it now accounts for 70% of all the enquiries the website receives.

Found by people searching for the work, not the name

Between August 2025 and mid October 2026, Watford Welding appeared in Google results more than 79,000 times. Almost half of the clicks we can see came from people who never typed the firm's name: 72 different searches, from "welders near me" to "cast iron repair near me".

What's next

The biggest prize is still ahead. "Welding services near me" and "welders near me" showed the site 5,768 times, but it sits beyond page two for them on average. Moving those onto page one is our next focus.

questions

Questions about this project

How long did it take to see results?

The website went live in spring 2025. Enquiries from search picked up from March 2026, around seven months after we connected Google Search Console in August 2025, and search has brought in between three and seven enquiries every month since.

What did Proven Path Strategies do for Watford Welding?

We designed and built the website on Wix Studio, set out all nine services clearly, built ten location pages for the towns the firm covers, and set up Google Search Console and enquiry tracking. We continue to look after the SEO.

Where do Watford Welding's enquiries come from now?

From April to September 2026, 31 of the 44 website enquiries came from search engines, which is 70% of the total. In the same months of 2025, search brought in 7 of 16.

Enquiries are contact form submissions recorded by Wix Analytics. "Search" means visits from Google, Bing and other search engines. We compare the same six months in 2025 and 2026 so that seasonal demand doesn't flatter the result. Appearances, clicks and positions on Google come from Google Search Console, 13 August 2025 to 17 October 2026. "Clicks we can see" excludes the rare searches Google keeps private.
